PRIMARY PE & SPORT PREMIUM
County Durham Sport are working closely to support primary schools to ensure their Primary PE and School Sport Premium is used to appropriately fund improvements to PE and School Sport provision.
Primary schools must use the annual funding from the Department for Education to make additional and sustainable improvements to the quality of the PE, physical activity and sport they provide. This means that you should use the PE and Sport Premium to either develop or add to the PE, physical activity and sport that a school provides, or build capacity and capability within the school to ensure that improvements made now will benefit pupils joining in future years.
The Association for Physical Education (AfPE) is the only physical education subject association in the UK. Their purpose is to promote and maintain high standards and safe practice in all aspects and at all levels of physical education, influencing developments in physical education at national and local levels.
The AfPE website contains a useful Frequently Asked Questions page that helps primary schools understand what they can and cannot spend their funding on.
The Youth Sport Trust is an independent charity devoted to creating a brighter future for all young people. They offer a wide range of resources, programmes, CPD and networking opportunities to both our member and non-member primary schools to help all schools provide the very best start to physical literacy, preparing children for secondary school.
