CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE
County Durham Sport strongly believes that sport and physical activity can have an overwhelmingly positive impact on the lives of children and young people. We help to coordinate and support a range of projects and initiatives aimed at increasing physical activity levels of children and young people, as well as seeking to influence policy and systems change on a local level.
Our work with schools includes planning and supporting the delivery of the County Durham School Games, coordinating Opening Schools Facilities funding locally on behalf of Sport England, as well as facilitating the annual Active Lives Children and Young People Survey. We also offer guidance and advice to schools around their Primary PE and Sport Premium funding.
The Active 30 Hub contains a range of resources that schools, parents and community groups can access to help support the delivery of physical activity to children and young people of all ages and abilities.
We have also worked with local community groups and organisations to encourage children and young people to develop leadership and volunteering skills in physical activity.
