COUNTY DURHAM SPORT COMMUNITY

County Durham Sport have worked with a number of schools and community groups to deliver specialised, targeted leadership & volunteering projects relating to physical activity and previous project case studies can be viewed on this page.

Using data insight to inform our project delivery, we continue to support a wide range of young people within County Durham with varying levels of previous volunteering experience.

County Durham Sport are always looking for new, initiative ways to engage young people in physical activity. We are keen to hear from organisations working with young people in County Durham who may be interested in creating a collaborative leadership and volunteering project incorporating physical activity.

To discuss leadership and volunteering opportunities further, please contact our children and young people’s programme coordinator Joe Armstrong on 07936947077 or joe.armstrong@countydurhamsport.com

ACTIVITY VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME

The Activity Volunteer Programme is a new programme of learning for 2021 designed to offer young people a pathway into volunteering through building transferable core skills.

The overall aim of the programme is to provide young people with the confidence in their own abilities to put the learned skills into practice as effective volunteers in a variety of situations. Setting them on their volunteering journey and discovering new opportunities to become change makers in their communities. In turn, this provides them with the platform to embark on their volunteering journey into further study, such as leadership or coaching qualifications, helping them identify opportunities to put their skills into practice.

The award will be accredited by SLQ Sports Leaders, providing a stamp of approval which is trusted by education and employers.

More information will be made available on how to get involved in this programme in the coming weeks.
